Baynes Creek: Ground Breaking
On October 16th, we officially broke ground on the Baynes Creek Development, a milestone moment for affordable housing in Greene County. Nearly 80% of essential workers in our community currently live outside the area due to the lack of affordable housing. Baynes Creek is set to change that.
This new development will provide affordable, owner-occupied homes designed for our local workforce, offering families a place to truly put down roots. The neighborhood will feature a large park, community gardens, and walking trails, creating a thriving space for families to live, grow, and connect in Greene County.
Speakers at the groundbreaking included Elaine Mathews, Greene County Habitat Director; Jan Broughton, Baynes Creek Chair; Joe Collums, Executive Director of Georgia Communities; Corey Williams, Mayor of Greensboro; and Commissioner Christopher Nunn. Together, their words underscored the shared commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive community right here in Greene County.
